It's Three O Clock in the Morning and All is Well

Good Morning Everyone:

I hope this blog finds you in good spirits.  What an action packed week I had here in Georgia and on the road.  We finished our Worship cohort at Ohio Christian University.  I learned quite a bit about worship during the past six weeks.  Class work was pretty intense, but I made it through.  We have a small group of committed students in our class.  We are meshing together as one collective body in our Masters program.  Being in a Christian school with a curriculum based on Christian ethics and practices makes the whole process more meaningful and applicable.

I gave my first sermon in front of the class during the oral part of our final project.  I'm kind of proud of the way it was administered to me by the Holy Spirit, and how I was able to deliver it.  Here is my sermon:

Today’s Sermon Topic: Who Is Your Insurance Provider and What is your Coverage? Most responsible people today have some type of insurance.  Some have life insurance, others have car insurance, some have homeowner’s insurance and apartment insurance, and some even have health insurance if you’re fortunate.

There is nothing worse than having a car accident and then finding out that you don’t have coverage, or the person that hit you doesn't have coverage.

There is nothing worse than going to the hospital for an emergency room visit knowing that you don’t have health insurance and you don’t have proper coverage.

Well you know a lot people tell you that they are going to be there for you when you need them.  People are often like insurance companies.  They are always telling you what they are going to do for you:  some say “Like a good neighbor State Farm is there”,  Others say “Nationwide is on your side,” some even say "you're in good hands with Allstate."  Others say don’t worry “get a piece of the rock like Prudential.” But there are times in life when no one is there for you.  You look around and there is no one to be by your side.  You find yourself in a wilderness experience.  Maybe you lost a  loved one, or maybe sickness has crept into your body, or perhaps your child is on the wild side or you lost your job. We've all been there where it seemed like we were all alone.

Oh Family, but I’m happy to tell you on this Easter Sunday morning that there is someone who is there for you. Oh yeah he sits high and looks low.  He counts every strand of hair that is on your head.  His answers are yes and amen, he calls you friend.  The Bible tells us in (Proverbs 18:24 KJV) “A man that has friends must first show himself friendly, and there’s a friend that sticks closer than a brother.”

You may go into the hospital and not have health insurance, but you can tell them that you have “blessed assurance.”

When they ask you what type of coverage you have tell them that you are covered by the blood of Jesus.  For Hebrews 9:11-15 tells us that not just any old coverage will do.  You may have Geico, or you may have  Kaiser Permananente, or you may have Blue Cross, but I come here today to tell you that Kaiser Permananente may not be permanent enough, and that Blue Cross may not do. Oh you have the cross, but what you need is Power of the Cross from the Blood of Jesus. It’s the only coverage that is going to work for you. Because when you have Jesus as your insurance provider no matter what the premium is, it’s already been paid for on calvary!   His protection is indefinite.  It will last a life time! You're not just getting insurance for a short term or what they call a term life policy.  When Jesus is your insurance agent you're getting a whole life policy that will last you your whole life...Amen.  For John 3:16 tells us that God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life!.  It’s time for you to get the coverage that you need.  You can’t do anything to earn it. And you can’t pay for it, and you can't work for it.  It’s already been paid  for through the Blood of Jesus Christ.  Is there anyone today who is looking for a new insurance provider?  Is there anyone who needs new coverage today?  An everlasting coverage?  If so, would you kindly make your way down to this altar right now!  I see you coming Brother, I see you coming sister.  Oh I bet if we clap for them they'll keep coming!  Give the Lord a hand clap of praise!

After I finished my sermon I told the congregation that we would be hearing a selection from our worship leader minister Woody.  And Woody came out and sang "Nobody Greater."  It was awesome! I had been meaning to bring Woody to class and I didn't know how I was going to fit him in.  Since this was our last day with our Professor Dr. Harris, I thought it appropriate to let him make his debut.   I felt accomplished.  Praise God.  It's amazing what he can do with us if we allow him to have his way.

On Saturday I flew to Norfolk, Virginia to minister in comedy to a single's outing for Faith Tabernacle Center Church of St. Paul, N.C. under the leadership of Pastor Earl Goings.  We had a great time in the Lord.  I ended up getting two hours of sleep, because I had a to get up and catch a Delta flight out of Newport News so that I could make it back to Atlanta in time to get to a 10 AM service in Macon, GA at True Gospel Christian Church with Pastor Ral Waltower. It was he and his wife's second anniversary there.  The devil tried to hold me back, but couldn't.  My plane was delayed an hour, and then we sat in the plane for another hour waiting to take off.  It was the longest flight ever back to Atlanta.  I keep falling asleep and waking up and we were still above the clouds....LOL.

Finally we landed, and I hurried to baggage claim and picked up my belongings and caught the shuttle to the parking lot to get my car. As I proceeded down I-75 south I noticed an accident at the I- 675 split.  Figures.  Here we go again.  Get thee behind me Satan.  I quickly veered off on exit 228, and took the back roads down to exit 218 where I met my wife Sherry at the Racetrack gas station.  I needed to re-up on some DVDs.  I met my wife for a quick hug and a kiss, made the transaction, bought a honey bun, and jumped back on the highway.  I made it to the church and we helped Pastor Waltower and his entire congregation of members and friends to have a great celebration.  Pastor Waltower came out of Higher Living Christian Church where we all served under Pastor Andre Landers for a number of years.  Pastor Waltower is a great man of God and is doing awesome things for the kingdom.  You will be hearing a lot about him I guarantee it.  You know how it is when you meet people who are sincere, down to earth, and on fire for the Lord?  Well that's Pastor Waltower and his wife.  His truly teaches God's word and is building up a faithful band of followers.  I love his witness and devotion to God's people.

Well I have to go to sleep.  It's 3:46 AM and I have to get up around 10 AM or so and finish up my final project so that I can submit it.  We start our new cohort Biblical Interpretation tomorrow night at 6 PM with a new instructor.  It's about to be on and popping.

Until we meet again may God bless you and keep you in Jesus name.

Pastor Willie Brown.  Hey I like the way that sounds.....LOL.
